Buy tefillin, mezuzot, or a megillah

Tefillin, mezuzot, and megillot are often purchased with little visibility into how they were made. Many ritual items today are produced through opaque global supply chains that devalue the animals whose hides they use, and which exclude women and other Jews from scribal work.

At the Kedusha Project, we offer hand-written ritual texts crafted with care, halakhic precision, and ethical sourcing. Our diverse crew of hide workers and scribes processes parchment, produces retzuot (straps), spins gid, and scribes scrolls. As the American market trends further towards Ashkenazi norms, we are keeping diverse practices alive as the only diasporic producers of tanned parchment that complies with Mizrahi practices and the exacting laws of Rambam. We are the only egalitarian scribes who make tefillin in-house, and we also refurbish old tefillin found in attics and closets. Whether you’re purchasing a new mezuzah or replacing your tefillin straps, please check out our shop. We’re happy to answer your questions about any part of the process--so you know exactly what you’re bringing into your home.
