Commission a Torah scroll
Commissioning a Torah scroll is a once-in-a-generation act. Communities often mark major milestones, like a new building, with the writing of a new Sefer Torah. The process can feel overwhelming: parchment sourcing, layout decisions, supervision, cost, and halakhic standards all matter.
The Kedusha Project would be happy to embark on this journey with your community. We believe a Torah should not only be kosher; it should honor and carry the values of the community that commissions it. All of the parchment for your scroll will be made by our skilled craftswomen and ethically sourced from hunted deer, rather than the fetal calf hides utilized by the rest of the industry. We will work with you to create educational programming during the writing process, so that your community can experience up close the creation of the scroll they will use for generations.
The cost of the Torah scroll will depend on your community's needs and expectations. As a ballpark, we would estimate $50,000. We are especially interested in scribing Sephardi or Mizrahi scrolls.
If interested, please send us an email. We will get back to you promptly.
