Custom Made Ethical Tefillin
Our custom tefillin are made with a commitment to vegan- and vegetarian-conscious values. While our aspiration is always to prepare parchment, batim, straps, and scrolls from roadkill, to meet demand we may also use hides from hunted deer or from farm animals that died accidentally. Hunted animals lived fully wild lives until their final moments, and hides are purchased from individual, subsistence hunters. If you prefer one source over another, please let us know.
Each set is produced entirely by hand, including the writing of the scrolls, the batim (boxes), and the retzuot (straps). Every step of the process is done with kavannah (intention), ensuring both halakhic integrity and ethical responsibility.
These tefillin are kosher under the supervision of Rabbi Juan Mejia. Because of the intensive labor involved, each pair is custom-made to order, with limited availability.
Expected lead time is 3-4 months. Please email us at thekedushaproject@gmail.com if you are interested in tefillin.
