Refurbished Tefillin
Refurbishing old tefillin is an important way our community can preserve kedusha while keeping it affordable, sustainable, and aligned with our values. Every refurbished pair helps reduce waste, conserve animal life, and sustain sacred craftsmanship within the egalitarian community.
Over the years, we’ve encountered dozens of pairs left behind in synagogues, closets, and attics—objects once filled with holiness, waiting to be revived. Each pair is carefully inspected, touched up, and repaired. We repaint as needed, replace straps, and, when necessary, rewrite one or more scrolls.
By choosing a refurbished pair, you support the ethical restoration of sacred objects and avoid the need to source new hides. Please note that, as refurbished items, these tefillin may retain minor cosmetic imperfections (such as slight bowing) that do not affect their kashrut or usability.
The price reflects the amount of work required to restore our current stock. The price may go up or down depending on the state of pairs that come in. Please reach out to inquire about our current stock and available options before purchasing at thekedushaproject@gmail.com. As with all our work, we are committed to making kedusha accessible, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need financial accommodations.
